Running caps dont usually stand out this much. But this one feels like one of the most thoughtfully designed running caps currently available. It's lightweight, breathable and a very nice piece to enhance your running outfits.
At first glance, it's the transparent laser-cut mesh that catches your attention. Rather than using traditional fabric panels, On has engineered the cap with precision laser-cut mesh and seam-taped construction, giving it a technical look that feels more like a piece of performance equipment than a standard running cap.
The design isn't just for aesthetics either. Weighing just 41 grams, the Specter Cap is built for hot-weather running, with maximum airflow through the mesh, a quick-drying construction and a moisture-wicking sweatband designed to keep sweat out of your eyes when the pace picks up. Reflective logos on the front and back add a little extra visibility without distracting from the clean aesthetic.
Only call out would be if the sun is absoloutley beaming and you are bald, you may still want to apply suncream as them holes are BIG. Equally on extremely hot days maybe something with a bit more coverage should be advised to avoid heat stroke.
What we like most, though, is that On has managed to make a genuinely technical running cap look interesting. Performance headwear often prioritises function over form, but the Specter Cap feels like one of the few that gets both right.
