For nearly 50 years, Nike has turned the simplest natural element - air - into a major performance advantage, engineering it to help athletes move faster, tread lighter, and excel to their best. Nike reaches another innovation milestone, this time in materials...introducing Nike Radical Airflow.
For years, ACG sat between outdoor gear and lifestyle products. People wore it for the design, the culture, the streetwear appeal. But now they're repositioning to performance only. This means products specific to trail running, hiking, exploring, all of that. Meaning it’s intentional, every product is going to have a clear purpose meaning its going to be more functional than ever. Honestly it makes so much sense.

The product to launch ACG straight into this new era is their new Radical AirFlow top. This is the next level up from the aeroswift and Dri-Fit products that Nike have currently been offering, and its designed specifically for trail running and endurance training.
Air has been central to Nike footwear performance for years. Now, designers are translating that idea into apparel, exploring how airflow can actively cool the body in motion, a concept simple in principle but highly complex in design.

Instead of using traditional mesh, Nike has engineered airflow channels directly into the fabric, using these funnel-shaped perforations designed to capture air as you run and accelerate it toward the skin. The long-sleeve silhouette is intentional as it maximises the cooling surface area, while open underarm panels improve mobility and reduce weight. Every element is designed to speed up sweat evaporation and help keep the body cooler for longer.

The garment has been trail-tested in extreme heat and high elevation across a range of demanding environments, with athlete feedback that speaks for itself. Climate-lab testing also shows impressive results, it absorbs 50% less sweat during prolonged runs in the heat and dries 25% faster than Nike’s Dri-FIT technology. That’s a difference you can genuinely feel when you’re moving for hours at a time.

While it’s clearly built with elite runners in mind, those tackling brutal terrain and events like UTMB and other ultramarathons, it’s easy to imagine the technology crossing over into everyday outdoor use, festivals, and even fashion. That may not be Nike ACG’s primary intention, but performance products have always influenced style, that’s simply how it goes.
This isn’t lifestyle ACG anymore. This is purpose-built performance gear for people who are truly out there running, hiking, and exploring. And it feels like the beginning of a new era.
