aH-1 Cycling Helmet
aH-1 Cycling Helmet
So this is no usual bike helmet, this is the The Ventete aH-1 inflatable helmet.
So Ventete are a British company founded in London by architects, engineers and designers, so its a very cool team they have. They have spent the last 10 years developing and refining this helmet and its gone on to receive multiple design and innovation awards, so obviously we had to check it out.
The project began as a simple idea of trying to solve the problem a lot of daily cyclists have of having to lugging around a helmet all day and how great it would be if you could simply just fold it away.
So the helmet comes flat packed in a clean case which is quite thin, it comes in at around 3.5cm when the deflated helmet is inside, so its easily portable and this can simply be placed in your bag or maybe even inside a bigger jacket pocket.
Inside the package you also have an electric mini pump in collaboration with FUMPA, this is great to have on hand in case you also need to inflate your bike tyres. One charge can inflate two bike tyres or the helmet five times, and this is going to Inflate the helmet to optimal pressure in just 30 seconds.
The helmet is split into multiple sections called the air chambers and once inflated, they create the full protective structure of the helmet. It's also got an integrated valve, and a small window which is the patented pressure indicator, and thats going to show when the helmet is at its optimal pressure. It doesn't have the typical boa system most premium cycling helmets have, just these simple adjustable straps which are very easy to use.
So material wise the helmet has been constructed from a triple laminated nylon, its also got these glass fibre reinforced protective ribs, which provides braced reinforcement across each of the chambers so you're not going to need to worry about this when it comes to durability, punctures or anything like that..
The design channels air to go over the top of your head for a cooler ride, and of course air doesn't trap heat like foam does so this will be cooler than conventional helmets.
The helmets are made in Switzerland which is of course known for its trusted manufacturing processes and safety performance products and the helmet has been fully certified to and exceeds EU and UK testing standards. And its actually had more than one thousand impact tests.
After years of refinement, Ventete have managed to build their own patented pneumatic structural system, and this system is how the helmet is going to be able to responsively absorb impact forces in the event of a collision. The inflated structure is also going to extend the impact duration compared to conventional helmets, by slowing and dissipating the force over a longer period of time.
There was also a third party study carried out by HEAD Lab at Imperial College London, and it showed that the Ventete aH-1 actually provides a 44% reduction in overall linear risk compared to the best performing conventional helmets tested. Thats pretty crazy.
As well as the pneumatic system, the helmet also has rotational impact protection technology which has been designed in collaboration with RHEON labs. The internal liner features is a non-newtonian superpolymer, which is soft and flexible in its natural state to adapt to your head, but on impact, the liner stiffens and absorbs energy by shifting itself in multiple directions to slow down and spread out the force, especially from rotational impacts. the liner effectively controls and reduces rotational forces, which are the primary cause of traumatic brain injuries in accidents.

Ventete's aH-1 inflatable cycling helmet is the latest, most innovative pieces of technology in cycling. Proven to be 44% safer than traditional foam helmets by HEAD Lab's of Imperial College of London, the helmet includes RHEON Labs technology for rotational impact protection and a pneumatic structural system to extend the imapct duration. Design wise the aesthetic is something we have never seen before and completley unique.
Exceeds EU & UK Safety Standards. 44% Safer Than Foam Helmets. HEAD Labd Imperial College Of London Approved. Integrated RHEON Labs Technology
Cooler Than A Foam Helmet. Channels air to go over the top of the head. Empty spaces for more cooling.
